Their displayed figures run from a $50 material-specific lower endpoint to a $2,200 full-replacement upper endpoint. In Cape Coral's official 2024 permit data, the strongest original finding is different: the median permit-recorded value was $250.00 per stated linear foot across 333 wall-only permits, with a middle 50% of $200.00 to $312.59. That administrative permit value is not an invoice or amount paid.
Four evidence classes answer different versions of the cost question: publisher-stated ranges, permit-recorded values, model-derived planning costs, and awarded public contracts. This page publishes each class separately, with its definition, source, date, calculations, and limitations.
What are the key seawall cost statistics?
The strongest immediately citable figure is the 2024 Cape Coral permit median because its 333 source rows and calculation are published with this page. The remaining lines distinguish publisher claims, administrative permit values, planning-model outputs, and documented public contracts so no number loses the label that makes it accurate.

What are the four seawall cost numbers readers should not mix?
Most confusion comes from treating unlike evidence as though it measured the same transaction. A publisher range, a permit valuation, a model output, and an awarded contract can all be accurate within their own definitions while being unsuitable substitutes for one another.

What does a seawall cost per linear foot in 2026?
Across 15 cost pages reverified July 27, 2026, the lowest displayed per-foot endpoint is $50 for riprap and the highest is $2,200 for full seawall replacement. The pages do not disclose comparable observation rows, and their geographies, materials, inclusions, and vintages differ, so the source ledger is more defensible than a pooled average.
As a description of the pages — not a measurement of market cost — the median of the 15 row-level lower endpoints is $150 per foot and the median of the upper endpoints is $800. The disagreement is part of the finding.

The table includes general wall ranges, material spans, and clearly labeled regional or complex-project bands. That is why its $50 minimum and $2,200 maximum should be quoted as the spread of published figures, not as a universal bid range for one defined seawall.

Why do the same price ranges appear on different websites?
Repeated numbers are visible across different pages, but repeated publication is not the same as independent measurement. The final ledger shows five pages using one of two identical broad ranges and several material bands repeated three to five times, while none of the pages publishes the rows behind those bands.

The strongest documented dependency is explicit: LandPerc's $100–$800 statement links directly to HomeAdvisor. The table does not allege copying or infer how any other page produced its numbers. It establishes only what can be observed — identical endpoints appear on multiple pages, so those appearances cannot automatically be counted as separate confirming datasets.
A number set with five pages behind it may still trace to one original estimate, several independent estimates, or a mixture of the two. Without observation rows, dates, sample definitions, and calculations, the pages do not let a reader distinguish those possibilities.
How does seawall cost per foot differ by material?
The checked pages usually assign different ranges to vinyl, concrete, steel, timber, and riprap, but the endpoints change sharply by publisher and geography. Cape Coral permit descriptions do not name material consistently enough to support a reliable local material-specific median, so this section reports publisher statements rather than converting the official permit data into unsupported material categories.

Vinyl seawall cost per foot
Vinyl is the most frequently priced material on the Southwest Florida pages in the ledger. The explicit published endpoints run from $150 per foot on Pearce Marine's Long Island table to $1,400 on the Cape Coral Seawall Repair material table, while The Boat Lift Pros states $700–$1,200+ in Southwest Florida. JKT Marine states $175–$275 per foot for vinyl in Palm Beach and Broward counties with engineering and permitting listed separately; The Boat Lift Pros states $700–$1,200+ including materials, labor, and basic permitting but excluding dock and electrical work. Neither page releases the complete project sample, selection rule, and calculations.
Concrete seawall cost per foot
Concrete bands range from $200–$600 on HomeGuide to $1,500–$2,200 on the Cape Coral Seawall Repair page. Infinity Homes SWFL states $650–$900 per foot for concrete panel replacement in Cape Coral as of March 2026; JKT Marine states $250–$400 in Palm Beach and Broward counties. Those figures cannot be collapsed into one concrete average — "concrete" can refer to different panel, cap, reinforcement, embedment, anchoring, demolition, and access conditions.
Steel seawall cost per foot
Published residential steel bands in the ledger run from $200–$600 on HomeGuide to $1,400–$2,000 on the Cape Coral Seawall Repair page. Material alone is insufficient: Fort Lauderdale's Hendricks Isle project replaced 320 feet of City-owned seawall with marine-grade steel sheet pile and a concrete cap, but the checked City page does not publish the contract value needed for a per-foot calculation.
Wood or timber seawall cost per foot
The $150–$500 timber band appears on five pages: HomeGuide, Angi, HomeAdvisor, Pearce Marine, and Lamulle. That is a repeat count, not five disclosed job samples. ShoreProtect states a narrower $150–$350 timber band, while the Cape Coral Seawall Repair page states $700–$1,000 for timber replacement.
Riprap and living shoreline cost per foot
Riprap and living shorelines are shoreline-stabilization treatments rather than interchangeable vertical wall systems. The checked riprap figures run from $50–$200 to $70–$400 per foot, and HomeGuide separately states $50–$350 for a living shoreline. Gittman and coauthors estimated that 22,842 kilometers — about 14% — of continental U.S. shoreline was armored in their 2015 analysis and examined ecological effects associated with hardening. That source supports the national shoreline statistic; it does not provide a residential installation price.
What do 3,199 Cape Coral permit records show about recorded value per foot?
Cape Coral publishes annual "All Permits Issued" exports containing permit identifiers, work descriptions, recorded project values, and issue dates in the eligible years. After deduplication, footage parsing, and documented scope exclusions, the released dataset contains 3,199 wall-only observations from 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024.
Permit-recorded value is not final paid cost.
Florida Building Code section 109.3 says the applicant supplies an estimated permit value including materials and labor, and the building official sets the final building permit valuation. The study metric divides the value recorded in the City export by the explicit wall length selected from the official description.

The 2024 headline finding
The 2024 analytical sample contains 333 included permits covering 31,253.82 stated linear feet and $9,309,580.65 in permit-recorded value. The median is $250.00 per stated foot, the middle 50% runs from $200.00 to $312.59, and the 10th-to-90th-percentile band runs from $190.00 to $473.81. The complete untrimmed 2024 range is $25.00 to $1,350.00 per stated foot. Those extremes remain in the released rows because the study did not delete or winsorize values merely for being unusual.
The rate-card pattern in the permit records
The clearest structural feature is clustering on round per-foot values. Across all 3,199 observations, 2,363 — 73.9% — divide into a round $5 increment per stated foot. In 2020, 348 of 735 observations — 47.3% — equal exactly $115.00 per foot; the modal values are $115 in 2019, $115 in 2020, $120 in 2021, $225 in 2023, and $200 in 2024. That clustering is consistent with standardized values being used in permit declarations, but the records do not identify why it occurs.

The new and replacement medians are within 35 cents of each other. That does not establish that new and replacement walls have the same paid cost. The replacement distribution is much wider at the top, and the records do not normalize material, demolition, wall height, embedment, access, soil, engineering, drainage, anchoring, or contract inclusions.
The gap between permit-recorded value and local published ranges
At the most common 80-foot length, the 2024 permit median of $250 per foot equals $20,000. Infinity Homes SWFL's March 2026 planning range for a straightforward Cape Coral vinyl replacement is $400–$650 per foot, or $32,000–$52,000 for 80 feet; its concrete-panel range is $650–$900, or $52,000–$72,000. The permit median is 62.5% of the local publisher's $400 vinyl lower endpoint and 38.5% of its $650 concrete lower endpoint. The comparison spans different years and evidence processes, and the records do not establish why the gap exists. The $250 figure cannot be detached from the words permit-recorded value, its 2024 cohort, and its wall-only sample definition.
Why 2022 and 2025 are not in the per-foot series
The 2022 and 2025 annual exports do not provide a usable work-description or footage field from which a wall-length denominator can be recovered. Included counts also fall from 1,141 in 2021 to 482 in 2023 and 333 in 2024. The later exports use different description conventions and work-class fields, so that decline cannot be read as a measured decline in Cape Coral seawall activity.
Lee County coverage note
Cape Coral is in Lee County but maintains its own City permitting jurisdiction. The 3,199-observation dataset is not a Lee County median and does not include unincorporated Lee County, Fort Myers, Sanibel, Bonita Springs, or other municipalities. Lee County publishes a separate Dock and Shoreline Application and Permitting Guide for the County jurisdiction.
What does a national engineering model imply per linear foot?
In June 2019, the Center for Climate Integrity and Resilient Analytics published High Tide Tax, a methodology-documented planning model for the cost of seawalls protecting public infrastructure from projected sea-level rise. Table 1 publishes state cost totals and seawall mileage; dividing cost by miles and then by 5,280 produces an implied unit cost of about $1,572 per foot nationally in the report's published dollars. The derivation uses the report's stated default scenario: RCP4.5, year 2040, a one-year storm surge, and the 50th percentile. It does not convert the result into a residential market price.

What the model figure is
A unit value embedded in a planning-level model of seawalls intended to protect public infrastructure under a defined climate and storm-surge scenario.
What it is not
A measurement of residential seawall transactions, a contractor quote, a Cape Coral cost, or a material-controlled construction sample. The report states that its results are planning-level estimates and should not replace detailed engineering analysis.
The final page does not call these "2019 dollars." Although the report was published in June 2019, it does not identify a price-base year or quarter for Table 1. No inflation escalation is applied because adding an external construction index without a documented base period would introduce an assumption the source does not supply.

Municipal and federal work is not a proxy for a residential canal wall. Public projects can include competitive procurement, public access, drainage, roads or park grades, landscaping, utilities, pump stations, environmental features, longer design lives, and other scope absent from a private wall contract. The Naples ratio is traceable: the City minutes state the $2,099,995.31 award and $50,000 contingency, while the City agenda identifies the complete Outlot E segment as 700 feet. The ratio should travel with those two source facts, the 2022 award date, and its public-project label.
Why does seawall cost per foot vary so widely?
Per-foot figures move with the structural system, wall geometry, site exposure, access, demolition, soil conditions, anchoring, drainage, and the line items included in the number. Cape Coral's own engineering standard reinforces the central point: its typical detail is not a final design for a specific site, and final seawall design must incorporate site-specific conditions under a Florida registered professional engineer.

The state file transcribes High Tide TaxTable 1 for RCP4.5, year 2040, a one-year storm surge, and the 50th percentile. Each implied unit value equals published state cost divided by published state miles and 5,280. The report labels the results planning-level estimates. The report does not state a price-base quarter or label the table "2019 dollars." No inflation escalation is applied.
